Smart 3G vs Smart Bro Prepaid vs Globe Visibility

It’s kinda funny how I used to rant about Smart Bro Prepaid being redundant to having a 3G phone. But as I write this, I am actually using a Smart Bro Prepaid account. And worse, I am contemplating on getting one. You see, it wouldn’t be the case if not for these speed test results:

I must say I’m impressed. My Nokia 6630 can’t reach that speed because of its 384kbps maximum speed. Neither can the Nokia 3120 classic. And unlike Smart 3G, I saw no signs of intermittent connection with Smart Bro Prepaid.

Getting an HSDPA phone would be too expensive for a speed test comparison. So I’m not even gonna try that. Unless it’s an iPhone 3G. But that would mean I would get stuck with Globe.

Anyway, there was a recent price drop for the USB modem kit for Smart Bro Prepaid. It now sells at P2500 from the previous price of P3800. This is mainly because its rival, Globe Visibility, has been offering the same kit at P2500. I have not tried Visibility yet. But I hate the fact that they don’t offer the same time block charging that Smart Bro offers. With Smart Bro, I am assured that I pay only P10 for every 30 minutes. With Globe Visibility, it depends on how many times I reconnect in case of disconnections. But Globe Visibility gives you the flexibility of using the Visibility SIM for making calls and sending text messages. The last time I checked, Smart Bro Prepaid can’t do that. What would you pick?
