New Earphones Or iPod?
Last Sunday, I bid goodbye to my 17 month old Creative Zen Vision M and my Creative EP630 in-ear earphones. I had to include the EP630 so I could sell the ZVM. The stock earphones were no longer working and I might not have been able to sell the ZVM without earphones.
I think I sold them at a pretty good price and now I’m wondering, what the heck should I do with the cash? I still have two phones that can play music and the other one has an FM radio (these were the basic functions I liked in the ZVM). The PSP can play videos (the other function I like in ZVM) so I should miss the Zen Vision M that much despite its 60GB storage capacity. However, losing the earphones was the hard part. I no longer have earphones to use with my Macbook, PC at work, and the PSP when I want to play games discreetly. So I guess, that’s where part of the cash is going. I’m gonna have to buy a new set of earphones.
But here’s the thing, I no longer have a dedicated music player in my gadget kit. Yes, there are two Nokia phones that can pretend to be music players, I would have to buy an adapter for the earphones, though. The PSP can play music too, but is too bulky. So I thought, why not buy an iPod shuffle at $49 instead of a set of earphones? And since I’m already using a Mac, the only logical choice for a music player is the iPod. Here are my new earphones vs iPod options:
- Buy a good set of earphones. I liked the EP630. Buying one again is an option. And use the PSP as primary music player. There would be an additional cost for a bigger memory stick.
- Instead of the PSP, use the Nokia 3120 classic as primary music player. There would be an additional cost for the 3.5mm audio adapter.
- Buy an iPod shuffle instead. The earphones are not up to par to the EP630.
- Buy the new iPod nano. The earphones are still not up to par. I might need to take out more cash.
- Save the cash, sell the PSP, use the proceeds to buy an iPod touch. This doesn’t solve the earphone issue, though. But I’ve been drooling over the iPod touch for so long now.
- Long shot would be to get an iPhone 3G. Ditch the other phones to cover the extra cost.
So, what do you guys think? Should I just get a good set of earphones or buy an iPod altogether? Please drop a comment. Thanks!
