2008 Highlights And Lowlights

The year of the rat was a great year for me. However, there is such a thing as law of averages. As they say, it can’t be Christmas everyday. So let me enumerate to you the highlights and lowlights of the year that was 2008.

The Highlights:

1. Net Worth increased by 243% from Php43287.29 in 2007 to Php148630.35 (mostly because of previously unrecorded assets) in 2008.
2. Geek and Money got a Page Rank 2 in the third quarter of 2008.
3. Income from blogging and other online endeavors reached Php30,000 (not much, but I wasn’t expecting this much either). Monthly passive income from Text Link Ads. Referral income from IPower.
4. I got the promotion and the 39.8% increase in salary last September.
5. I made the big switch. I got me a MacBook and an iPod touch without affecting liquidity.
6. I found my soulmate.

The Lowlights:

1. Stock Market crash resulting to around Php50,000 in paper loss
2. Uncollected bad debt
3. Emergency Fund goal for 2008 was not met
4. Family health problem
5. Global economic recession (no more free juice and ice tea in the office)
